The "New Girls"

G-Volution is proud to announce two new members to the dance troupe: Morgan Busso and Vanessa Cava! Read what our beautiful and talented newcomers have to say about the audition process and being a part of G-Volution!

Morgan Writes: "Auditioning for G-volution was a great experience. At first, of course I was a bit nervous, as I would be at any audition. I was also really excited at the same time because G-volution looked like a company that I wanted to be a part of. I checked out the website, watched the videos and thought that's exactly what I want to be doing! Running into a friend from college that I used to dance with at the audition was a great surprise and definitely eased my nerves. In the first round of auditions we learned part of a Hip Hop piece and then a Musical Theater piece (to "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" from one of my favorite movies, Moulin Rouge!). Then we were informed that my friend Vanessa and I had made it to the second round and so far were the 2 finalists. We were given time to practice the 2 dances as another group went in for their first round. I was really happy to be a finalist with Vanessa and was really hoping that we would both make the company. After showing the pieces one more time and a short interview, we found out we both got in! I am truly excited and thankful to be a part of G-volution. Right away the girls welcomed me into the G-volution family and to sum it all up being a part of G-volution is really a dream come true!"

Vanessa Writes: "The audition for G-Volution Dance Company was by far the most versatile audition I've ever been on, and so much fun too! Graziella started by teaching a hip hop routine to a Missy Elliot song, who happens to be one of my favorite artists, so immediately I was having a good time. I have to admit I was nervous at first because I didn't know how many dancers she was looking for, but since the first routine was hip hop, my greatest passion, I was excited. Later we switched gears, and dance shoes, and learned a musical theater number to "Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend." You can't get more playful and girly then that! I had such a good time and absolutely loved that Graziella and her dancers have a broad spectrum of dance styles to share. I can't wait to be on stage!"

What's in a name? G-Volution

G-Volution Dance Company is in constant evolution, hence the name of our company: which actually means the evolution of "G," Graziella, as a dancer and choreographer. Although it's named after me, it's not just about me. It's about us all, because G-Volution as a whole, is greater than the sum of its parts. Having started as just a dance company (with multi- talented triple- threats), G-Volution has now expanded to include an original musical in our repertoire in addition to hip hop, jazz, musical theater, tap, and lyrical dances. Most recently, we will be adding Song & Dance Revues that capture a particular theme, era, or sentiment. As G-Volution's director/ choreographer, I believe that change is important while, of course, still remaining true to one's foundation. G-Volution is founded on the principles of professionalism, excellence, creativity, passion and consistency. We pride ourselves on being a professional dance/ performance troupe that delivers exceptional entertainment every single time.

Being diverse, and always embracing change within and around us, G-Volution is a chameleon group that adapts seamlessly to any environment, and with flying colors! Entertaining is what we do best, and we LOVE to do it! It is no doubt that we truly enjoy ourselves in every performance, and work together as a team. So, when you hear the word evolution, think of our group. Just remove the e and add a G, it's much cooler that way! ;-)

We are so excited to announce our 2nd run of Puttin on the G The Musical! It will play Fri. February 8 and Thurs. February 14, 2008 at 201 Supper Club in Englewood, New Jersey at 8:00 PM. These special performances will include a full dinner, show, and dancing afterwards with NYC DJ Graphic George!

Q:What is the show about?
A:“Puttin on the G” is a musical comedy about an Italian American girl who searches for her place in society. She learns early on that she is “different,” but discovers that it is not necessarily a bad thing, and embraces her ethnicity, her curves and passion for the performing arts, and eventually finds her "G!"

Q: What ages does it appeal to?
A: POTG features musical selections ranging from the 1940's straight through 2007, an eclectic mix that's sure to please audience members 13 and up!

Hi Everyone,
It's Graziella, director & choreographer of G-Volution Dance Company. I am excited to announce that the G-Volution Girls will be posting a regular blog, about what we're doing with the company, videos, special events, and just about anything we feel like sharing!

Here is our first Vodcast with introduction on G-Volution, and a mini- interview of each member. In case you were wondering, that's my bird in the background chirping (or screeching rather!) - she doesn't like to be left out of anything!
